Shipyard Plantation

Shipyard Plantation

Located on the southeastern side of beautiful Hilton Head Island is one of the Lowcountry's most sought after locations. Shipyard Plantation boasts the indigenous backdrop of large live oaks draped in Spanish moss and tall pines overlooking this 800-acre resort community. Gated for security and privacy, residents live in a variety of home styles and designs from single family homes to villas and condos.

"Shipyard is a community that offers a variety of homeownership options from investment and rental property to distinctive single family homes," says Dunes Marketing Group Realtor Mark Lynch. "For any buyer interested in living on Hilton Head Island, this is a great place to consider purchasing."

Nestled between Sea Pines and Palmetto Dunes, this intimate community is the smallest of the plantations on the island, but the amenities are numerous and world-renown. The Van der Meer Tennis Center earned Shipyard Plantation a place on Tennis magazine's Top 50 Tennis Resorts.

Dennis Van der Meer founded the center on Hilton Head Island, complete with 20 courts inside and out. A former top player, he coached Margaret Court and Billie Jean King. He has been lauded for his teaching method which he calls the Official Standard Method of Instruction.
The protected landscape of Shipyard Plantation is the setting for three 9-hole golf courses, requiring different strategies and skills to master.

The Clipper Course and the Galleon Course were both designed by legendary golf course architect George Cobb who is best known for his design on the Par 3 Course at the Augusta National Golf Club. The Clipper Course is considered by many to be the most challenging of the three Shipyard Plantation courses with numerous sand and water hazards.

The Brigantine Course was built in 1982 by course designer Willard Byrd and is characterized by well-placed bunkers and water hazards.

Many residents indulge in their own leisure activities outside the sports' clubs. Miles of trails throughout Shipyard Plantation are populated by walkers, bikers, joggers and roller bladers. The lagoons are stocked with freshwater fish, perfect for the amateur angler and spending time with family.

"Perhaps the most beautiful thing on the island is its 12 miles of pristine beach, and this pure indulgence is absolutely free," says Realtor Joy Sions of Keller Williams Realty. "At Coligny Circle at South Beach, umbrellas and bikes can be rented, and there are stores open for any other needs. In the fall, sand dollars and other seashells are plentiful here."

With so many resort style amenities, a home may sometimes be secondary in pursuit of the perfect primary or secondary home. Rest assured that Shipyard Plantation has a variety of homeownership options for the high-end discerning buyer, or a buyer interested in a simple home to rest between activities.
"With only 250 homes and 1100 villas, Shipyard's character will not change in future years as the community reaches build out," adds Joy.

Golf, tennis, and miles of pristine white beaches are a perfect recipe for any buyer interested in a real estate investment to add to a portfolio. Shipyard Plantation's limited home build-out covenants mean exclusivity and limited opportunities so call today! Your future is waiting.
