In the National Association of Realtor's (NAR) 2006 Survey of Second Home Owners, two-thirds of respondents stated they wanted to live close to an ocean, river or lake. Fifty-seven percent said the beach, lake or water sports were important for their leisure activities. Lakefront living is a dream for many and Hilton Head Lakes makes it possible and affordable.

The location of Hilton Head Lakes in Hardeeville was chosen by noted waterfront community developers Plantation Sales, because of its central proximity to Hilton Head Island, Savannah and Beaufort. As the community opens its first phase of development, building home sites will be sold with choices ranging from lakefront and nature preserve vistas to resort home sites, located on interior property with views of the Lowcountry landscape.

Director of Sales Tad Fulford says interest in Hilton Head Lakes is driven by three important components - the 155-acre boatable lake, affordable pricing and no time pressure to build.

"The flexibility of no time pressure to build and the freedom to choose one's own builder," has already encouraged sales says Tad.

Some owners are planning for their permanent homes; others are interested in building their long-awaited retirement or vacation homes allowing Hilton Head Lakes to grow into a viable neighborhood.

The dynamic entrance to Hilton Head Lakes will be gated and manned, providing privacy and security for residents. Inside are 2700-acres of Lowcountry beauty. When completed, 453-acres will be a protected nature preserve and more than 155- acres of interconnected lakes will wind throughout the development stocked with fish for that perfect afternoon activity of fishing with children and grandchildren.
Motorized boating (up to an 18-foot boat with 15-horse power motor), canoeing, and kayaking on the lake to the Owner's Activity Center or just watching the sun set will be easily achieved. Within a year, a commercial village will begin development and be accessible by boat via the lake. Specialty shops, restaurants and businesses will make up the village.

The Owner's Activity Center has been designed to accommodate all interests of Hilton Head Lakes' residents. There will be on-site boat storage, private community day docks with boat ramp and parking, a playground area, tennis courts, and basketball courts. There is also a private lakefront area planned with fire pits, a tiki hut and a sandy beach.

Two spectacular pools serve as the centerpiece of the Hilton Head Lakes Owner's Activity Center. An infinity pool adjacent to the dry docks overlooks the lake. A separate pool wanders through the Center and includes a splash zone, water slide and a lazy river.

Nearly seven miles of walking trails will also pass throughout the community. The neighborhood streets will have sidewalks on both sides for leisurely and safe strolling in the community.
Plantation Sales will offer special prices with incentives for buyers during the current predevelopment stage. Home site prices begin in the $140s. For qualified buyers, 90 percent financing is available. The miles of shoreline surrounding the lake is no doubt the biggest reason Hilton Head Lakes is drawing interested buyers.

"Some owners that choose to live on the lake will even be able to have a boat slip in their backyard so relaxation will be right at hand."
